DRAWING CLOSER TO GOD
BRINGING KIDS CLOSER TO GOD ONE PENCIL LINE AT A TIME.
A playful identity for a kids' show where every drawing tells a Gospel story.
Drawing Closer to God is a children's series from the Augustine Institute. Each episode, host Ms. Kim teaches kids to draw a scene step by step while telling the Gospel story behind it. By the time the drawing is finished, they've learned a story too.
The show is made for kids ages 6 to 8. The Augustine Institute needed an identity that felt as fun as picking up crayons and as trustworthy as the Gospel stories at the heart of every episode.

Challenge
Designing for a very specific kind of kid.
Six to eight is a narrow and particular age. These kids have outgrown preschool shows and know it. Anything that looks like it was made for toddlers gets dismissed immediately. They also aren't ready for the edgier style aimed at older kids. They're just learning to read, just learning to draw with real control, and very proud of being "big kids."
The identity had to hit that window exactly. It needed to be playful without looking babyish, simple enough for early readers to recognize, and exciting enough that a seven-year-old would pick it out of a streaming library and ask to watch. Since the show lives on FORMED, the Augustine Institute's own platform, the brand also had to stand out among everything else a child might browse there.

Solution
An identity that works, and a system built to play.
The logo sets playful, hand-friendly type inside a sticker outline, the kind of thing kids want to peel off and put on their notebooks. Between the W and the N in "DRAWING," a pencil hides in the negative space. The name has two meanings, drawing a picture and drawing near to God, and the mark carries both.
Around the logo, I built a complete visual system with a color palette, a type system, and an imagery style. It's bright and joyful for kids and consistent and polished enough to signal quality to parents. The system gives the Augustine Institute everything it needs to carry the show into marketing materials, from promotional graphics to printed pieces.

Result
A show that looks like it was made for kids, and made with care.
Drawing Closer to God launched with a brand as welcoming as Ms. Kim herself. Kids get something bright and fun to love, and parents recognize the care behind it. The Augustine Institute got a visual system ready for every channel where the show needs to reach families.
